Lion David Merchant adminlead@lions105ce.org.uk & consnoms@lions105ce.org.uk |
I am PDG David Merchant, currently President of Swaffham and District Lions Club, having been a Lion since 1981. I have held most Club roles, many and various District roles [including that of CNRO] culminating in being elected District Governor of 105D for 2013-14, and a number of MD roles, most recently GLT Coordinator.
I see the role of CNRO as being one of ensuring individual Lions, Clubs and the District conform to the requirements and expectations as detailed in the District Constitution, namely:

District Vulnerable Persons and DBS Officer
Lion Di Parkin vulnerableps@lions105ce.org.uk |
I have been a Member of Peterborough Lions Club for 25+ years – currently hold the post of Secretary and Social Chair within the Club.
I became involved with the VPO role at the very beginning when CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) was first introduced into Lions Clubs (by Brigid Hendy), the name changed to ISA (Independent Safeguarding Authority) and is now called the DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service). As we now have ‘everlasting’ cover through DBS provided the applicant ‘signs up’ for the service, many Members hold the DBS certificate – the dream is to have every Lion who comes into contact with a vulnerable person in their role as a Lion holding a DBS certificate. |
