Duties of the District Almoner
The District Almoner will record and report on any members of the Lions Family who have passed to higher service during the year, also send condolences on behalf of the District.
The District Almoner should be informed about a deceased member as soon as possible by their club or in some instances from Region or Zone Chairman.
Once the information has been received the District Almoner will send it by email to the DG team and ADMIN officer in order to arrange an attendee at the member’s funeral. The notification will also be sent to the Lions Bulletin editor for distribution throughout the District also to the MD officer with responsibilities for ‘In Memoriam’ on the MD website and Lion Magazine.
The District Almoner will give an ‘In Memoriam’ report on all members passing to higher service during the opening of the annual District Convention.
When the District Almoner is made aware of any significant anniversaries or birthdays the Almoner will send the appropriate congratulations.
If requested by the deceased member’s family the District Almoner will arrange for a Lions coffin drape to be made available for use at the funeral.
