We are your Global Services Team for 2022/23
District Childhood Cancer Officer
Lion Angela Howard |
Diabetes Officer
Lion Martin Wood gstdiabetes@lions105ce.org.uk |
I have known of Lions since childhood when my local Club helped the Special Needs School where my parents worked, to purchase a minibus. I joined Lions in 1977, and my late wife, Janet was a Lioness for 25 years. I have been Club President 3 times most recently in 2020/21 and have previously served on Cabinet as a Zone Chairman.
I was delighted to be offered the opportunity to serve as your District Diabetes Officer, and look forward to working with you. The impact diabetes can have on people’s general health has been highlighted by the COVID 19 pandemic. The need for Diabetes Awareness and Prevention has never been greater. Diabetes Risk Awareness Events are a great way to raise the profile of Lions and help combat this disease through education. Please consider holding an event and let me know how I can help |
Hunger Officer
Lion Andrea Cooper gsthunger@lions105ce.org.uk |
Originally a Chelmsford Leo back in the 1990s, I rejoined the Lions family in 2012 as a Chelmsford Lion. I have since immersed myself in a very wide range of service activities and fundraising events, from a sponsored challenge event for the British Red Cross in the Brecon Beacons to walking the South Downs Way with New Century Lions.
I am a passionate environmentalist which ties in closely to food waste and food poverty and, as such, have enjoyed involvement in gleaning events and lead our club during lockdown on the logistics of delivering ‘Bags of Taste’ in the Maldon district. I hope to lead and inspire similar projects as District Hunger Officer. I plan to regularly contribute ideas and inspiration to the Weekly Newsletter and continue projects such as gleaning and Feed the 5000. |
Vision/Sight Officer
Lion Elisabeth Eastburn gstvision@lions105ce.org.uk |
My husband and I were sponsored to join the Market Rasen Lions in May 2015. Previously the Club Treasurer, I am coming to the end of three rewarding years as Club President.
I took up the role of Vision Officer at the end of 2021 and look forward to expanding knowledge throughout the district. Many clubs are now collecting glasses and working together to arrange transport to Chichester or Birmingham. The Multiple District is working hard to set up the Child Screening Programme once permission is granted and I look forward to helping clubs within the District. I am also establishing links with talking newspapers as well as local clubs and societies. |

Young Farmers Liaison Officer
Lion Steve Scall gstyoungfarm@lions105ce.org.uk |
I live with my daughter Laura in Boughton, having moved from Edwinstowe after 33 years. My son lives near Newark with partner Jenny and my fantastic grandson Finley.
I work for a local community newspaper, having retired from retirement! A Lion since 1996, involved with all aspects of club life, I came to understand the service ethos and helping the community. Having thoroughly enjoyed four years as President of Edwinstowe & The Dukeries, the club honoured me with an MJF. Having served as DG in 2018/19, I oversaw the joining of EA & E into CE, a very successful union where I continue to take an active part. I recently transferred to Southwell & District and am the fundraising chair. On Cabinet, I am on the ROAR team, running in primary schools in all 8 districts. And, the Young Farmers Liaison, a great opportunity to work together with an emphasis on hunger and environment. |
