Lion Chris Speed
District Governor |
Hi, I’m Lion Chris Speed a proud member of Great Yarmouth Lions Club, all the way over on the east coast of Norfolk. For some reason I have a reputation for wearing loud clothes but I’m not sure where that has come from.
I first joined the Lions nearly 21 years ago with my now wife but unfortunately, due to work commitments and the birth of our children, I wasn’t able to give the club the time it deserved. In 2018, I re-joined the Lions to do more for the community. While progressing, I have attended a symposium, the Regional Lions Leadership Institute training, Advanced Lions Leadership Institute in Oslo and I was one of the facilitators at Symposium 6 and 9. In the last 12 months I’ve been able to visit and meet the amazing members of 26 clubs across our district. I will continue to pass my expertise onto others to help them become leaders of the future, ultimately helping our district to serve more of our community. I'm supported by my immediate family, they are Lion Jaime of Great Yarmouth Lions Club and my two daughters, Mollie, also a member of Great Yarmouth Lions Club, and Emily, an active member of New Century Leos Club. Those that know me know that I have a great passion in Lions for Youth Engagement and Service projects. Both of these help keep our members engaged and helps us to stand out in our local areas. If done well they will help us increase our membership and grow. My moto is “Take a look at yourself and make that That Change” You have already made that change we just need others to do the same. I’m very Proud to be a Lion and remember we are just normal people making this world a better place. |

Lion Verdun Webley
2nd Vice District Governor |
Hi, I’m Lion Verdun Webley, MJF, a member of Southwell and District Lions Club (CIO) and proud to have been elected at your 2nd Vice District Governor for 2025 – 2026.
I first joined Lions in 1978 and served for almost 10 years including a year at large as my family spent that year travelling around the world by motorhome, an exciting time for us all. After that time, I concentrated on re-stablishing myself in work and ensuring the future of my family. I re-joined Lions in 2007 in district 105A where I served in various roles which included club president and district assistant drugs officer. I moved to my present club when I relocated in 2015. I have held numerous posts since then, including club president. I have held numerous district posts including that of newsletter editor until recently. I have also held the post of Global Leadership Team Officer, MD Environment Officer and am currently Diabetes Officer and Distribution Officer. In addition I am the originator of ‘The Lions Challenge’ to youth. I look forward to meeting as many of you as I can, learning from how you operate in your clubs and helping wherever I can to enable you to expand and improve your service to others and have fun whilst doing so. |
