We are your District Governor Team for 22/23
I am Lion Dr Chris Hibbert, your District Governor for 2022 / 2023. I would like to give you a bit of background about myself.
Firstly, I will not comment on any of your health symptoms! I am a Rock Doctor! My PhD is in Environmental Geochemistry. However, just to confuse matters further my job title is Head of Business Improvement for a specialist Piling and Foundation Engineering company called Roger Bullivant Limited. I have been a Lion since 2001 and was a charter member of East Anglia New Century Lions Club. This was a new type of club and when we asked, ‘How it should be run?’ we were told it is up to us, we are not an internet club! Over the years we have tried different approaches, helping other clubs with their events, undertaking sponsored walks, cycles, triathlons etc., twenty years visiting Romanian Orphanages and serving our communities however and wherever we can! I am married to Sue, who is also a very passionate, capable, and dedicated Lion and we celebrated our 25th Anniversary in August 2019. We live in Leicestershire, (just outside our District boundary). We both enjoy the outdoors, especially walking and we met through Scouting. We spent many years with the Scouts including 8 years as Venture Scout Leaders which included taking groups to Spain and Canada on exchange visits and we supported 10 Ventures Scouts to achieve their Queen Scout Awards. I have served as Club President twice and as Zone Chairman twice as well as serving on District Cabinet as Centennial Officer and Hunger Officer. I completed an Advanced Lions Leadership Institute in Brussels in January 2020, which was a great experience, the quality of the material and the facilitators is amazing, and meeting around 80 other Lions from across Europe was brilliant. For the past few years I have also been serving as Multiple District Hunger Officer, which is a real passion for me, everyone should have sufficient, nutritious food to eat, especially when it can be linked so easily to the environmental issue of food waste. For many years Sue was a Lion with Ashby and Coalville Lions Club but eventually was lured away to join EA with me. This has provided us with many friends within both our previous Districts E and EA. I am currently serving as your 1st Vice District Governor and feel well established and well positioned geographically for leading our new District CE into the future. |
Hi I am Lion Paul Southerton your Vice District Governor for 2022/23 and I joined Lions in 1993 and I am in the Hunstanton Lions club. I have been club president four times and held every club office with the exception of secretary.
I have been Zone Chair for three years followed by two years as Region Chair and last year as 2nd Vice District Governor. I am also the MD. VP officer and have been since November 2019. This is a role which is enjoyable but sometimes challenging. I am married to Sue and we enjoy spending as much time as possible with our six grandchildren. Our two rescue dogs have settled in well and they plus our grandchildren enjoy being in our motorhome when we get time to go away for a few days. Country walks are also a favourite of ours. I retired from the Prison Service in 2008 after thirty three years as a Prison Officer and for seven of these I was the main Public and Child Protection officer in the country for the Prison Service. Since then I have had a couple of part time jobs and one fulltime job in catering. I am currently working part time in my local pub. I am again looking forward to working with the whole of the District Cabinet and giving my full support to the Region and Zone chairs. |
Proud Lion of over 34 years service, previously a member of Brentwood, Romford and after moving home currently Clacton on Sea. My working life has been dealing with the public as a police officer then upon retirement a CCTV Consultant for a London Borough. In both employments, I was responsible for the development/modernisation of procedures to conform with current legislation, this also included the training and development of officers and staff in this respect.
I served as a member of GMT – Membership Retention and SPT, Region and Zone Chairman, at Club level all posts, including Twinning Officer, except for Treasurer. I am a Certified Guiding Lion and for two years worked with Hornchurch, helping them to set up. My goal – Support the DG’s Goals, his team and the District to achieve these Goals. This includes the motto “Lions is Life Changing”. |
Hi I’m David Pope, I have just retired as your District Governor and it is now my responsibility as the Immediate Past District Governor to Chair the Strategic Planning Team.

Lion Keith Radley I was a member of Witham and District Lions Club 41 years and recently transferred to Chelmsford Lions Club on the closure of Witham.
I became a Lion with Witham on Tuesday 4th August 1981. Since then, I have held most posts at Club level: President (on more than one occasion), Secretary, Fund Raising Chair, Treasurer to name a few. As District Secretary I support the DG Team the District Cabinet and all the clubs in CE to my best ability, past Cabinet posts including Region and Zone Chair, Youth Officer, Music and Young Entertainer Officer and recently the New Clubs and Members officer. Outside Lions I am very involved with our local community theatre working front of house for many of our one nights shows. I am also a Past President of our local Amateur Operatic Society which I still support working on designing, making, and moving the sets for each of our shows. Having started my involvement with the amateur theatre playing Violin in the pit aged 14 (many, many years ago) this hobby that like Lions became an obsession. |
Firstly let me introduce myself as many of you may not know me, my name is Paula Mellows and I am your District Treasurer.
A little history about me personally - After 31 years in Banking, in 2021 I took voluntary redundancy from the Bank, deciding to put my AAT qualifications to good use I now work part time as a bookkeeper for a solar panel company and the other half self-employed. With regards to Lions I came up through the ranks of the Lions family starting in District 105A as a Leo (joining in 1995), I went on and joined my parent Lions Club, then at the end of 1999 I moved to Lincoln where I am still a Lion. In 2010 my fellow members of Lincoln Lions honoured me by presenting me with a MJF and in 2019 PDG Lion Steve awarded my with an International Leadership Medal. I am also the Lincoln club Treasurer and the MD 105 Foundation Treasurer. |
I am Fiona Reid and I am the District Minute Secretary, Social Media Officer and Webmaster.
I am a member or Brigg District Lions Club and have been since 2006. I am currently our club president for the second time. I became involved in Lions following both my parents, and prior to joining I would assist at many club events and attend social events. I run the social media pages for my club. As minute secretary, my role is to minute cabinet meetings and the district convention. |
