​The Lions MD insurance arrangements changed on 1 October 2023 and the new cover will run through to 30 September 2024 with AJ Gallagher Insurance Brokers Limited acting as brokers and Hiscox continuing as insurers. The Employers Liability and Public & Products Liability carries an Indemnity Limit of £10m whilst the Professional Liability and Management Liability carries a limit of £100,000. In discussions with the insurers, a master list of declared club activities has been compiled and such activities have been categorised into green, amber and red. Risk assessments are required for each event and Covid-19 risks should continue to be considered along with other risks in the context of each event. Activities on the green list can proceed without reference to MDHQ or the insurers although it is still recommended that this is checked unless you are 100% confident they fit the green description. Those on the amber list require the detail to be discussed with National HQ before proceeding, whilst those on the red list carrying the greatest risks should be discussed with National HQ who will liaise with the insurers regarding whether the event will be covered, whether any specific conditions are attached to the cover and whether an increased premium is payable.

Red Activities will not be covered by the standard insurance and additional cover will need to be purchased. National HQ can supply you with an Insurance event form on request to complete if needed.
Events on the amber list need to be referred to HQ with the following information attached:

- Risk Assessments for all elements of the event

- Event Plan

- Full details of what Lions will be responsible for.
